Forex: Silver/USD (price Silver vs US Dollar)

When you are looking at quotes for silver, the Silver/USD will come up. This is because the price of silver is quoted in US dollars only and is always quoted by the ounce or oz for short. Silver is an investment in precious metals and is considered to be very volatile due to value demands and industrial demands. This can also follow the price of gold due to value demands. The price of silver can range as high as 14.00 per ounce to a low of 1.29 per ounce back in the 1840s. Each silver ounce is sold as a Troy ounce.
There are many ways to invest in Silver/USD. There are bars of silver, coins, certificates, rounds, accounts and certificates. Silver Exchanges include iShares Silver Trust, PowerShares DB Silver and EFT Securities just to name a few of the exchange traded funds that deal in silver. Silver is traded on the COMEX of the New York Mercantile Exchange. The taxation of this metal doesn’t hold the position that gold does; the VAT can be very high especially overseas for silver, whereas gold is VAT exempt. Capital gains tax may also apply especially if the silver was sold at increased value.
For a commodity, silver is a good choice for an investment. Anywhere that you see the Silver/USD quotes you can be assured that this particular metal is being traded on an exchange. Remember that silver is always quoted in the US dollars and cents range for any bid or speculation on silver or silver futures.
