Forex: EURX (Index EURO)

Index EURO is an index much like the USD index in most ways except for the following. It tends to move down when the dollar goes up and the index bottomed out around 2002 and rose as the dollar was heading downward. This index is comprised of equity from 17 major markets in Europe covering 70 percent of the market in the region. This is a unique index that is a free float measuring the equity of 17 European markets. This is also part of the S&P Global1200. Its base value started on Dec 31, 1997 and the base value is 1000.
With the Index EUR you can compare how the Euro is doing against the other currency pairs such as the Japanese yen and the US dollar for example. This will give you a currency exchange rate for many different currencies that are competing against the Euro and are part of the trade with other nations. There are certain qualifications for the index as far as the money is concerned. It is much like the index of the US dollar and there are certain similarities for each of these indices as far as comparisons go.
This Index EURO will also measure and weight the value of other currency much like its American counterpart. So while there are similarities, there are also differences in the way that it is both handled and run. The European Bank oversees the Euro and its application in currency trading when it pertains to the world at large.
