Forex: EUR/JPY (Euro vs Japanese Yen)

This is a currency pair where the EUR or euro is the base and the JPY or Japanese Yen is the counter of the pair. There are many different reasons why you would choose a EUR/JPY combination as this combinations isn’t quite as volatile as the USD seems to be. This is all about matching both strong and weak currencies. This is an example of an intelligent directional trade. Say if the Japanese Yen is weak and the European Union Euro is strong then you have a good directional pair to trade with. There are times when you don’t want to trade in the USD.
Another way to look at the EUR/JPY currency is to use synthetic pairs. You can do this by buying or selling two pairs that are equally portioned. You would need to buy the same amount of each pairing in order to make the directional trade work. There are many ways to sell both long and short on this currency pairing. This can be a safe bet against the USD weakness and volatility. A cross currency pair is one that doesn’t have the USD in any part of the equation. Pairing both the yen and euro together is a good combination.
When you are looking at either buying or selling EUR/JPY consider your strategy carefully. Make sure that you have done your analysis before either buying or selling a pair of cross currency so that you don’t wind up losing money due to certain conditions.
